Joe Lieberman is still fully on board with Hagee and CUFI, an organization that incites zionist extremism on the Temple Mount.

Why is no one making the obviouls point that the Zionist Christians are actually the world's worst terrorists and enemy of America. Their plan is to burn all of us and our children and all down the line to a crisp who do not happen to agree with their brand of religion. Talk about security threats to America. Why does the press not question the candidates and neocons and the likes of Lieberman how they cannot fail to totally reject this group and its votes and its money. Is it because they don't have the guts to offend the Israeli lobby, as usual, even is such a case as this?

Allowing people like Hagee to help Jews is like depending upon a tornado to clean out your backyard. There is so much more destruction than renewal in those kinds of forces. Jews need to follow advice from people like Jimmy Carter; advice that may not taste sweet but is honest and actually in everyone's best interests.

"I’m not well enough informed, theologically speaking, to know whether Hagee’s remarks about Hitler and the Holocaust that spurred McCain’s decision to break with him reflected a defensible interpretation the Book of Jeremiah — as some of his Jewish defenders have claimed — or not."

The theological question raised by Hagee's remark has little to do with with Jeremiah. Rather, it is more a matter of causality. Hagee's remark leaves the impression that God so micromanages his relationship with humankind that all events are to be seen as efficiently caused by Him. Such a view is not only erroneous but also denegrates the idea of human freedom, a pattern not inconsistent with fundamentalist constructs regarding the degree of depravity with which humankind was left following the Fall. To Hagee, humankind is completely unable to respond on its own to an initiative of God's. God must literally force the will into a positive response. This view is to be contrasted to the teaching of the faith for all time that the Fall does not leave humankind utterly bereft of a capacity to respond to divine proding. God rather offers inducements and the will, which, while impaired, is not wholly incapable of a response. His notion of "total depravity" leaves Hagee and much of Evangelical Christianity with a linguistic style that coveys the sense that God, so to speak, forces Himself upon events. The case in point would have God actively pre-arranging the circumstances that would have resulted in the post-Holocaust exodus of European Jews to Israel. God had moved Hitler around like a puppet, one would be apt to think. Hagee makes no mention of a distinction to be gleened by a casuality borne of the act of creation, on the one hand, and on the other, one brought about by the immediate imposition of the Lord Himself. The idea that Hitler may have chosen to persecute the Jews becomes not a free act but an act of God! Similar misapprehensions of the relation between the divine and human make possible the comments of Hagee and others that God actively brings about punishment for sin through such natural events as hurricanes and the like. If Hagee owes an apology to anyone it is to God, not the Jews.

Israel operates an entire factory that is devoted to massaging the evangelicals. It is called the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and it has branches in just about every country where a breathing evangelical may be found. Among its founding principles are "to be a centre where Christians can gain a biblical understanding of Israel, and learn to be rightly related to the nation," "to stimulate Christian leaders, churches and organisations to become effective influences in their countries on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people."

I guess none of it is about religion, but the forces of cowardice masquerading as self-alleged philosophical authorities in the true pursuit: property and profit.

It's the same bottom line no matter what the topic.
